世界上的语言中只有一部分是声调语言，其中又只有很小一部分具有复杂的声调系统，白语就是其中之一。白语的声调系统在声调数量和声调性质方面都极为复杂，它是一个音高与发声特征复合的系统，有8个对立的声调。学界已有大量探索白语声调性质的研究，但仍缺乏对白语声调参数和人际变异的定量分析。由于发声类型参数对个人体质特征敏感，人际差异显著，我们在对声调和发声类型的研究中必须进行定量分析。因此，我们在孔江平（2011）的框架下进行了一系列针对白语声调和发声类型的定量研究。本次报告将介绍两个案例研究，并讨论声调与声调对立策略之间、发声态与鼻化之间的关系。我们的研究揭示了：（1）白语的发声态存在变异，但变异限于某几种声调对立策略，而不是任意的；（2）鼻化影响白语中紧调与松调之间的对立方式，具体的影响方式取决于声调的曲拱。

Not all languages in the world have tones and very few languages have a complicated tonal system as Bai has. Bai owns an extremely complex tonal system quantitatively and qualitatively, in that it has eight tone contrasts at most and tones are integrated categories with combination of pitch and phonation features. There is an abundance of works devoted to the exploration of the nature of the tone of Bai, but none of them performed a quantitative analysis of neither phonetic parameters nor speakers’ variation. Since phonation parameters are very sensitive to personal physical conditions and varies across the individuals, quantitative analyses are required in the study of tone and phonation. Therefore, our study conducts a series of quantitative analyses of Bai’s tone and phonation under the framework of Kong (2001). This talk will introduce two case studies of this project and discuss the relationship between tone and strategy of tone distinction, and between phonation and nasalization. The current research show that: (1) the phonation is in variation in Bai, but the variation is limited within certain strategies of tone distinction and not arbitrary; (2) the nasalization do affect how the tense and lax tones are distinguished in Bai, and the way of influencing depends on the tone contours.
