I think we thought too well of the United States, we thought the US side will follow the necessary diplomatic protocols. So for China, it was necessary that we made our position clear. So let me say here, in front of the Chinese side, the United States does not have the qualification to say that it want to speak to China from a position of strength.

These a few countries are obsessed with lecturing others on human rights. But facts in the past have proved that they are neither qualified or capable of doing so. We hope they will understand that China today is not the same as Iraq, Libya or Syria, still less what it was 120 years ago. The days when foreign powers could force China to open its doors with cannons are long gone; also gone are the days when several so-called scholars and state media could unscrupulously malign China in collusion without being punished.

I'd like to stress the importance of respect in doing business. Certain retailers want to smear and attack China and hurt Chinese interests while making profits in the Chinese market. They should know better than to bite the hand that feeds them. There is no way to get away with this. The Chinese market is always open. We welcome foreign companies to operate and invest in China with a sound business environment. We hope they will comply with laws and regulations, refuse to be weaponized by certain political forces, and refrain from testing public opinion in China.

As for the individual Japanese official's remarks that the water is okay to drink, why doesn't he take a sip first?

中国必须统一，也必然统一。我们愿尽最大努力争取和平统一的前景，但绝不会为任何形式的“台独”分裂活动留下任何空间。希望澳方充分认清台湾问题的高度敏感性，恪守一个中国原则，切实谨言慎行，不向“台独”分裂势力发出任何错误信号，多做有利于台海和平稳定和中澳关系的事。

China must and will be reunified. We are willing to do our best to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification, but we will never leave any space for "Taiwan independence" separatist activities in any form. It is hoped that the Australian side will fully recognize that the Taiwan question is highly sensitive, abide by the one-China principle, be prudent in its words and deeds, avoid sending any wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, and act in ways beneficial to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and conducive to China-Australian relations.

The Australian side used the word "authoritarian" to describe China, but it was among the first to ban Chinese companies from its 5G rollout. It has also vetoed time and again Chinese investments under the pretext of "national security" and wantonly searched Chinese journalists in Australia. It accused China of undermining the rules, but again it blatantly torn up cooperative deals with China and disrupted bilateral exchange and cooperation. Basically Australia is telling others to take the medicine when it is sick itself. How can this solve the problem? 

日方为了省钱，单方面决定将核污染水排海，极不负责任。日方错误决定在先，我们抗议在后。日方做了坏事儿，还不让别人说吗？全世界抗议不是一天两天了，日方一些官员一直装聋作哑，为什么对一幅插画作品气急败坏？他们应该多听听世界人民对于核污染水排海的抗议呼声。日方应认清自身责任，履行国际义务，撤销错误决定。

It is extremely irresponsible of Japan to opt for sea discharge to cut expenses. It made the wrong decision first and we only protested afterwards. How come it is brazen enough to do the wrong thing, but won't stand others' criticism? The world has long been protesting its decision, but Japanese officials just keep playing dumb. Why, then, are they so miffed by a mere illustration? They should listen to protesters all over the world. The Japanese side should realize its responsibility, fulfill its international obligations, and revoke its wrong decision.

For the United States, a country that has killed nearly a million Muslims and infringed upon the human rights of tens of millions more, to profess concern over the human rights of Uyghurs in Xinjiang is just like the weasel paying respect to the hen without the best of intentions.

A USA Today Network investigation reveals that since 2003, hundreds of lab incidents have occurred in the US biological laboratories where humans had accidental contact with deadly pathogens. We would like to know when the US will give a reasonable explanation to the international community with regard to the above-mentioned doubts.

The US always boasts of being "a shining example of human rights" but turns a blind eye to its appalling human rights record. It blatantly plays with double standard and uses human rights as a tool to retain hegemony and interfere in other countries' domestic affairs. However, the sins committed by the US can no longer be swept under the carpet. Both history and reality have recorded its human rights violations. From large-scale race massacre against indigenous peoples to prevalent, systemic and persistent racial discrimination, from waging wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, which killed hundreds of thousands and displaced nearly ten million to willfully slapping unilateral coercive sanctions which violate the basic human rights of foreign citizens, the list of notorious human rights violations of the US goes on and on.

As we Chinese often say, people have their own judgment and are sharp-eyed. The so-called ranking makes black look white, and white look black, and perhaps it will call the dead alive. They will only be shrugged off by people around the world and offer something for small talk.

这些民众、媒体自发的行动，实际是问出了国际社会长期无法得到回答的问题，而美方一些人始终讳莫如深。请美方回答几个问题：德特里克堡生物实验室同“电子烟疾病”等不明原因呼吸系统疾病到底有何关联？美方为何至今还不邀请世卫组织赴美彻查德堡？在溯源问题上，中国去得，美国为什么去不得？美方应展现透明，有问必答，回应外界关切。

These actions initiated by the public and media in fact have raised those questions long hovering over the mind of all, which the US has kept in dark. Here are questions for the US to answer: What is the link between Fort Detrick and the unexplained outbreaks of respiratory disease including EVALI? Why hasn't the US invited the WHO in for an investigation into Fort Detrick? Why can't origins study be conducted in the US just as in China? The US should show transparency and tell as much as they know about all the questions and respond to the concerns of the outside world.

1971年通过的联大第2758号决议已经从政治上、法律上和程序上彻底解决了中国在联合国的代表权问题。联合国系统、各专门机构和联合国秘书处任何涉及台湾的事务均应遵循一个中国原则和联大第2758号决议。台湾作为中国的一个省，根本没有资格加入联合国。多年来的实践充分表明，联合国和广大会员国均承认世界上只有一个中国、台湾是中国领土不可分割的一部分，充分尊重中国对台湾行使主权。

Resolution 2758 adopted by the General Assembly in 1971 has solved once and for all the issue of China's representation in the UN in political, legal and procedural terms. The system, agencies and the Secretariat of the UN should abide by the one-China principle and UNGA Resolution 2758 when dealing with Taiwan-related affairs. As a province of China, Taiwan is not qualified to join the UN at all. Practice over the years fully shows that the UN and the vast number of its member states recognize that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and they fully respect China's exercise of sovereignty over Taiwan.

在涉及中国主权和领土完整等核心利益问题上，中方没有任何妥协退让的余地。任何人不要低估中国人民捍卫国家主权和领土完整的坚强决心、坚定意志和强大能力，不要站在十四亿中国人的对立面。我们敦促美方在台湾问题上谨言慎行，不向台独分裂势力发出任何错误信号，以免严重损害中美关系和台海和平稳定。

On issues that bear on China's sovereignty, territorial integrity and other core interests, no one shall expect China to make any compromise or trade-offs. No one should underestimate the resolve, the will and the ability of the Chinese people to defend their national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Do not stand on the opposite side of the 1.4 billion people. We urge the US to earnestly abide by the one-China principle and stipulations in the three China-US joint communiques, be prudent with its words and actions on the Taiwan question, and avoid sending wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, lest it should seriously damage China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.

台湾是中国领土不可分割的一部分，一个中国原则是不可撼动的国际关系准则，中国实现统一是不可阻挡的历史潮流，台湾海峡阻隔不了包括台湾同胞在内的14亿多中华儿女实现国家统一的浩荡洪流。少数台独分子和外国政客的拙劣表演，不过是中国统一进程中的几道杂音，丝毫改变不了全世界180个国家坚持一个中国原则的牢固格局。

Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. The one-China principle is an unshakable norm governing international relations. China's reunification is an unstoppable trend of history. On both sides of the Taiwan Strait, the 1.4 billion Chinese people, including our compatriots in Taiwan, share the overwhelming aspiration for national reunification. The clumsy show of a handful of "Taiwan independence" elements and foreign politicians cannot change the unbreakable landscape where 180 countries in the world are committed to the one-China principle. 

中国的目标从来不是超越或者取代美国，不是为了跟美国搞你输我赢的竞争，而是不断超越自我，成为更好的中国，让中国人民过上更好的生活。

It is never China's goal to surpass or replace the US or engage in zero-sum competition with it. Our goal is to constantly surpass ourselves, become a better version of ourselves and enable the Chinese people to lead better lives. 

作为世界前两大经济体，中美利益高度交融，中美合则两利，斗则俱伤。无论是从中美两国人民还是世界各国人民的共同利益出发，合作才是中美唯一的正确选择。

As the two largest economies in the world, China and the US have deeply-intertwined interests. Both stand to gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation. For the sake of the Chinese and American people and for the sake of people of the whole world, cooperation is the only right choice for our two countries.

美方应恪守一个中国原则和中美三个联合公报规定，恪守同中国建交时所作庄严政治承诺，停止煽风点火、制造矛盾对立的把戏，停止向“台独”分裂势力释放错误信号。我们也告诫立陶宛，为某些大国火中取栗，最终只会引火烧身。

The US should abide by the one-China principle and stipulations in the three China-US Joint Communiqués, adhere to its solemn political commitments made upon the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, stop instigating disputes and confrontation, and avoid sending wrong signals to “Taiwan independence” separatist forces. We would also like to admonish the Lithuanian side that being a cat’s paw for some major country will only end up getting itself burnt. 

中方多次重申，冬奥会不是政治作秀和搞政治操弄的舞台。中方没有邀请任何澳大利亚政府官员出席北京冬奥会。他们来或者不来，没有人会在意。澳方政客出于政治私利作秀炒作，对北京成功举办冬奥会不会有任何影响。

We have reiterated many times that the Winter Olympic Games is not a stage for political posturing and manipulation. China hasn’t invited any Australian government official to attend the Beijing Winter Olympics. In fact, no one would care whether they come or not, and Australian politicians’ political stunt for selfish gains has no impact whatsoever on the Olympics to be successfully held by Beijing. 

中方在应对新冠肺炎疫情方面是无可指责的。包括今天在座外国记者在内的大多数人，都经历了中国抗击新冠肺炎疫情的过程。中国人民已经取得了抗击新冠肺炎疫情的战略性胜利。在座各位能在抗击疫情期间生活在中国，就偷着乐吧！对中国的所谓疫情滥诉和指责都只会是一场闹剧。

China’s COVID-19 response is beyond reproach. Most of you, including foreign journalists, have lived through this battle fought in China. The Chinese people have secured a strategic victory, which I’m sure you’ll agree is most reassuring. All frivolous lawsuits and allegations against China on COVID-19 will prove to be nothing but a farce.
