Call for Editor Proposals
｜GUIDE｜ Professor Susan Gass is completing her tenure and in June 2022 will be stepping down as Editor of Studies in Second Language Acquisition (SSLA). Cambridge University Press is now inviting applications for the position of Editor. A team of two Co-Editors will also be considered. Final appointment decisions will be made by the Syndicate of Cambridge University Press. The deadline for applications is November 30, 2021. Studies in Second Language Acquisition is a refereed journal of international scope devoted to the scientific discussion of acquisition or use of non-native and heritage languages. Each volume (five issues) contains research articles of either a quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods nature in addition to essays on current theoretical matters. Other rubrics include Replication Studies, Critical Commentaries, State-of-the-Scholarship, Methods Forum, and Research Reports. SSLA published volume 43 in 2021. Its 2020 Impact Factor was 2.838, placing it 8th of 187 journals in the Linguistics JCR. Its Google h-5 index is 36 and h-5 median is 50, placing it 4th in Language and Linguistics, and 5th in Foreign Language Learning. Interested applicants should send a curriculum vita and cover letter along with an abbreviated development plan (not to exceed two pages) and the names and email addresses of three referees, to Amy Laurent at Cambridge University Press (details below).
